Kanchenjunga Stadium is an important multi-purpose stadium of Siliguri holding almost all small and big matches of cricket, football, and other sports of the city. The stadium was built in the 1980s and it has a seating capacity of 35,000. It was earlier known as ‘Tilak Maidan’. 

The construction was completed in the year 1988. It started with the Nehru Gold Cup. It hosts lots of important cricket and football matches. It houses the Sports Museum “KRIRADIPTI”, Bikash Ghosh Memorial Swimming Pool and Sports Authority of India Training Centre.

 It also houses the office of the Youth Services Department, Siliguri Mahakuma Krira Parishad, Food Plaza, etc. Recently it is equipped with floodlights, thus night matches can be conducted here. Different exhibitions and fairs such as Book Fair, Handicrafts Fair, LEXPO (Leather Fair), Flower Show, “Baisakhi Mela”, EXPO, etc.

This stadium is situated near Bidhan Market which is the biggest market for Siliguri. The flower show is on 21st February 2019. It was a good time. If you are a tree lover you will find many varieties of trees. Some of them are known and some are unknown. You can see many stalls but the Paul Nursery shows a bonsai tree which costs 2lakh and 35 thousand. It is unbelievable. Local stadium of Siliguri. It also hosted two Kolkata derby matches in 2016,  in January 2014, an upgrade of the stadium for Rs 1.7 crore was announced. It was also known as ’tilak maidan’.

The hotel is maintained very hygienically and protocols of covid19 have been followed. The ambiance is very good. The foods provided in these hotels are very fresh and hygienic. Location – 3rd mile, Sevoke road, Siliguri.

2. Lemon Tree Hotel, Siliguri

 A reasonably good hotel in Siliguri located on sevoke road. The hotel is clean and the staff is helpful. Clean, well-maintained room. The bathroom was very clean and maintained. The behavior of the staff was very polite, professional, and satisfactory. The location of this property is also good and very much visible. The lemon tree is also one of the well-known hotel chains these days.

 You can get a standard room @5000-5500 with their great services. Professional Hotel chains like Lemon tree give you a wonderful experience right from entry to reception to check out… This is wonderful but a little out of the city… Coming from Bagdogra airport you need to cross complete city traffic which is a little hectic. The hotel is strategically located on the outskirts of Siliguri for all passing through the place while traveling north or people coming down from the hills and going south.

 Proceeding to Bagdogra Airport through Bypass takes around half an hour and NJP Railway Station is 30 to 45 mins away. The interior design in particular is of great taste with interesting artworks and sculptures placed all around the property. Siliguri is a gateway to the hills was lacks alternatives of business as well as tourist stays, which now will have better options with The Lemon Tree.

 The rooms are big with an amazing bathroom, almost all the facilities are present. Food is quite expensive, the buffet menu for breakfast is average. Service is fast and courteous. Only sore point is that they lack a swimming pool. The behavior of all the staff there was very nice as well. The food in their restaurant was amazing, totally amazing and they also have a 24×7 food service, the perfect solution for someone’s midnight cravings. Location – Ground 3rd and 4th crescent tower, Sevoke road near Vega mall 3rd mile, Siliguri.

3. Courtyard by Marriott Siliguri

This is one of the best places to have a buffet in Siliguri.Very good hotel property with very positive staff at each level. Excellent spread of food menu. The chef’s especially Chef Days were the backbone of the kitchen. Others Zishan, Daniels Ranjita, was accommodative. They have a buffet for both lunch and dinner. The rooms are spacious, clean & well maintained.

 The restaurant & bar + Coffeeshop, gym and the pool are located on the 2nd floor. It’s tranquil & peaceful sitting by the poolside. This smoke-free hotel features a restaurant, an outdoor pool, and a fitness center. Free WiFi in public areas and free valet parking are also provided. Additionally, a bar/lounge, a coffee shop/café, and a snack bar/deli are onsite.

 All 91 soundproofed rooms provide free WiFi, free wired Internet, and 24-hour room service. Conveniences include refrigerators and coffee makers, and guests will appreciate thoughtful touches like pillow menus and bathrobes.  It has a ‘Swimming pool’ which is around 20 meters in length 3 to 4 feet deep. It has 130 ‘Rooms’. It has some rooms from which you can see ‘Kanchenjunga’, the second-highest hill in the world. 

The restaurant ”Siliguri Kitchen”is really good, you can get a buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner at an affordable price of around 800 to 1000. The ‘K Bar’ has not started yet. You can order food 24 hours From the a la carte menu. It has a ‘Bakehouse’ where you can order pastry and cakes. If you are looking for a place to throw a party or do a meeting this is the best place for you. It has an open area on the pool lawn and Banquet has around 1000 seating, in the banquet lawn around 200.

  This is in my opinion the first renowned brand of a hotel chain in North Bengal. Proximity to the very important bus terminus Tenzing Norgay in Siliguri which connects to all the important hill areas with Siliguri has made this hotel location perfect. The airport is also very close and vehicles to tourist places like Darjeeling and Gangtok are easy to get.

 This has made this hotel an excellent choice for both business travellers and tourists both. The hotel is maintained very hygienically and protocols of covid19 have been followed. The property is small with a small pool and only one restaurant. The room size is also medium. Overall satisfactory but will require a few more food options for room dining and restaurant. Must visit if you’re near Kanchenjunga stadium. Location – Malaguri, Hill cart rd, Siliguri.

 Very nice place to stay with a beautiful view from the room of the swimming pool and plants outside. The food was also good. Great hospitality. enormous parking area for cars and bikes. swimming pool. Good Room service, laundry, bar cum restaurant. This is one of the oldest hotels of Siliguri around 40yrs old. They have very much experience in the hotel business and how to treat guests. A quiet place on the roadside and near the city is very nice and the rate is so reasonable…This hotel has a very traditional approach. Helpful and courteous staff. The rooms are very neat and clean. Room service is quick. 

The hotel is maintained very hygienically and protocols of covid19 have been followed. The food is awesome, very tasty, clean, and hygienic. Probably the best food in Siliguri. Moreover,. Mr Haider (restaurant supervisor) is very helpful, he knows exactly what a customer wants and provides the best service. There is also a wide area to relax in front of the hotel. Location- ward 46, pradhan Nagar, Siliguri.

5. Udaan Clover Hotel Banquets and Spa

Best location for a hotel in Siliguri. The rooms are spacious and tastefully done. Very neat and clean new property. It Looks and feels way more expensive than it is. 10rs auto ride to cosmos mall/big bazaar and the same for vega mall. Parking is available as well. Feels more upscale than the price would suggest…The hotel is very neat and clean with wooden flooring that you’d fall in love with. Bathrooms are spacious too and very well designed with a modern touch.

 The room itself is very spacious. Room service is super quick. Buffet breakfast is available at reasonable prices with a variety of options like milk, tea, coffee, sambar, idli, menu vada, Kelloggs, sandwich, toast, juice, and so on. Lunch and dinner are on a la carte basis – they have limited options in the menu but have enough to cover for 2 days and rates are extremely reasonable with great taste exactly what an Indian would prefer.

 A very reasonable hotel to stay in Siliguri. The rooms are fantastic. Very clean and modern design. We got upgraded from base to premium category. The premium rooms are slightly bigger than base category rooms. Although the hotel serves only vegetarian food, the food is extremely delicious. The breakfast spread was great with a lot of options (vegetarian only, no egg preparations). The breakfast included sandwiches, dosa preparations, usual beverage selections including canned, fresh juices, tea/coffee, fresh fruits, etc.

 This is a new hotel in Siliguri, on Sevak road, location is very good, staff in reception is very cordial and efficient, rooms are very good, the toilet is also very good, rooms have arrangements for making tea and coffee, a minibar is also there. Their restaurant is located on the 5th floor beside the banquet hall.

 The hotel is maintained very hygienically and protocols of covid19 have been followed. It has a nice ambiance but without background music and you can enjoy your food with a full view of the busy sevoke road or you can watch TV over there. They serve only vegetarian food. Location – Bus terminus, Sevoke Rd, near PC Mittal, ward 43, Siliguri. 

   Siliguri is the hidden gem we all know. So there are many more amazing places to shop around.
